Syd Arthur-Garden of Time

Mood Monday.

My white azaleas are in full glorious bloom.

Yesterday, I actually spent hours cleaning pollen off my porch so I could relax and read the Sunday Times in garden harmony with birds chirping, chipmunks squeaking, and the warmth of the sun without its harsh effects. I reflect on this happy moment of unwinding, as Monday takes hold with it’s stringent grip. Yes, Spring is here and the earth is washed anew in color, rebirth, and an extra thick coating of the yellow sneeze inducing stuff.

This song,” Garden of Time”, has been out a little while, but it perfectly matches my mood today, and reflects the beauty of the nature of time. As the change of the seasons are ever rolling and ever evolving, and thankfully predictable, this song mimics the ethereal, spacey, vibe of the colossal idea of it all.

I love the band, Syd Arthur, and everything they do. I have written about them before (1146 miles) and I have a feeling that I will write about them again. They are an up and coming band from Canterbury with flourishing promise and incredible sound.

Syd Arthur pushes the envelope and strives to be unique. Psychedelic funk rock, melding with undertones of jazz, seems to be what attracts me to the songs they create. Each song is an experience for the ears. There are only four of them in the band, Liam Magill (lead vocals, guitar), his brother Joel (bass),  Raven Bush (violin, keyboards, mandolin), and Fred Rother (drums), but somehow their sound seems like a full blown orchestra. I am eagerly anticipating their album, Sound Mirror, coming out any day now. Check them out on Facebook , if you are just as intrigued.

Syd Arthur matches my mood on occasion and helps me chill. Thus, they are perfect for this Monday. Go on and let the weekly circus of meetings, appointments, and checklist writing begin…I am armed and ready!
