The Decemberists-Make You Better

There is such resounding beauty in the music of  The Decemberists. Their songs are timeless tales, meaningful, and vocally distinctive. When a new song is sent to me, I can’t help but celebrate. I have a history with the joy of their musical stories, and their songs bring back meaningful memories. Blessed with a new song, I have to stop and take serious notice. Listen to “Make You Better” from The Decemberists, and await the promise of a new album, What A Terrible World, What A Beautiful World, in January. The album will unfold 14 songs, I am beyond the moon.

And all I wanted was a sliver to call mine
And all I wanted was a shimmer in your shine
To make me bright

But we’re not so starry-eyed anymore
Like the perfect paramour you were in your letters
And won’t it all just come around and make you
Let it all unbreak you to the day that you met her
But it’d make you better
It’d make you better

DecemberistsThe Decemberists

What else is there to say? They are welcomed by me with loving, open arms. Colin Meloy, Chris Funk, Jenny Conlee, Nate Query, and John Moen are the genius behind the perceptive sound. Judge for yourself, to me it is divine, but there is certainly more music to come and more to love. With Meloy’s degree in creative writing, I am  feeling crazy anticipation for the next musical masterpiece from this amazing band. Is it possible that they are older, wiser, and better?

Welcome back.
