I heard the bells on Christmas Day
Their old familiar carols play
And wild and sweet, the words repeat
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
Till ringing, singing on it’s way
The world revolved from night to day
A voice, a chime, a chant sublime
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
And in despair I bowed my head;
“There is no peace on earth” I said;
“For hate is strong and mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!”
Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
“Oh God’s not dead and not asleep
The Wrong shall fail, The Right prevail
With peace on earth, good-will to men!”
Oh peace on earth, good will to men
Oh peace on earth, good will to men
Oh peace on earth, good will to men
Oh peace on earth, good will to men
Echosmith recorded this song a couple of Christmases ago, but it honestly seems more poignant today, especially with the weird times in which we live. Echosmith is an American indie pop band from California. The band is four siblings: Graham, Sydney, Noah, and Jamie Sierota. “I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day” features incredible vocals from Sydney and emphasizes the real reason for the season. After listening to Christmas songs on repeat for the past month, it is fun to find an unknown gem.
Christmas should always remind us of the deep love we share with those nearest and dearest to us. Blessings to all of you. May peace and good will rise above hatred and strife today and everyday. Merry Christmas!
