31 days of Music
Day 15
Sometimes when I hear a new submission, I take a deep breath.
Whoa…..
This is one of those moments, and it makes me smile.
The band is Fossil Collective and they are from Leeds, England. Maybe I am the only one who doesn’t know them yet, but the multi-instrumentalists are David Fendick and Jonny Hooker.
There is incredible beauty to me in music that has a simple strum of a guitar, rich vocals, and meaningful lyrics. This is a band that has an ability to truly soothe the listener and yet invoke deep thought with their lyrics. I had to put this song on several repeats to be sure to hear, what I think are just a bit of their poetry. The song is “Half Light”.
“Life comes and goes
Rust turns to gold
I will never know
I will never know
for the longest time
I’ve ever known
(Chorus)
On the far side
in the half light
there’s a constant
that we can’t fight
It was all of this time
and if you’d read my mind
you’ll know,
no shadows fall.”
Fossil collective’s EP, The Water, comes out October 28th. Please be sure to like them on Facebook and check out their website too. On the website, if you hurry, you might still be able to download the 4 song EP, but please also support these amazing artists.
Well…. and then they also did this. A video for the The Voice Project, a great organization that works by utilizing music to effect positive social change, alleviate suffering, and promote human rights around the world. Their version of The Flaming Lips, “Do You Realize?”
