I have been patiently waiting for new music from one of my favorite bands, Real Estate. It seems like I have been left hanging for forever and ever. Then, low and behold, I find out that one of the main band members has a side project called, Ducktails. It is fascinating how many bands splinter off for creative exploration. This song and this project captures just a fraction of the sound I dearly love, but I am truly satisfied.

Ducktails is the solo side project of Real Estate guitarist, Matt Mondanile. His new EP, Wish Hotel, definitely tides me over until Real Estate’s new album comes out sometime in 2014 (cross your fingers). “Honey Tiger Eyes” flows with synth and a hazy psychedelic sound. I appreciate that it contains an interesting experimental, chill vibe. I really love the instrumental section at about 1:34. It is a solid song and a very hip listen.
