Horrors, back to school ads in July? For shame, for shame, for shame.
Don’t they understand? I am still knee deep in my summer mode of dreamy summer slumber, pool visits, happy travel, friend and family gatherings, casual dinners at dusk (which comes later and lovelier), and warm sparkly nights reading on my porch with music blaring. These are all examples of important parts of my blessed summer routine. I absolutely refuse to think about school for now. I will think about that another day, thanks to this spectacular summer song that has miraculously appeared this week.
“Blue Eyes”, by The Rosebuds, will be my happy summer anthem that will help me put off the inevitable ticking of time. Won’t you listen with me?
The Rosebuds, from Raleigh North Carolina, have a new album Sand + Silence that will drop on August 5th. Produced by Justin Vernon (Bon Iver), who also appears on the album with guitar and synth, adds a nice dimension to this new jangly indie-pop sound. The Rosebuds, Ivan Howard and Kelly Crisp have also brought in Bon Iver drummer, Matt McCaughan and Sylvan Esso’s, Nick Sanborn on bass. An impressive group of collaborating musicians which creates some darn noteworthy music. If the entire album packs the happy punch of this toe-tapping tune, then I will be listening again and again (especially as a joyous reprieve from any upcoming winter doldrums).
Lo and behold, look who’s coming to Atlanta! Check out their dates and maybe they are coming near you. Although, they would be clearly worth a fun road trip.
