This morning I woke up at dawn to the constant drumming of rain….soaking, bone chilling rain. I pulled my heavy duvet up over my head and was lulled back to sleep with the soothing, steady sound. Falling back to sleep after a late night out and an early morning wake up, is the joy of a Saturday. Isn’t that what Saturdays are all about?
Now, I am fretting over lists of things to do, and that calming start to my day has all but disappeared. I am obviously procrastinating because here I am at my computer at noon, listening to music. With my to-do list pushed aside, I find solace and the hint of a “c’mon get going” spark in this funky, fresh tune.
I have blogged about Kindness before (refresh your memory), and I expect that I will blog about Adam Bainbridge’s talent again. The song , “This Is Not About Us”, is a much needed funk to get me on my day. The deep bass tones, the swirling horns, and the wicked cowbell/drum machines create a pop tune with a serious punch for this lazy, hazy, rainy day. This song is from his recently released album, Otherness. He simply redefines pop with his own style and soulful funk.
Well, at first, I justĀ listened to the tune on repeat and fell in love with it. Then, I happily rejoiced when I found the video. I had to share it with you. It is really fascinating to watch, especially if you like dance (props to the dancer, Karla Garcia with Adam). This song wakes me up, gets me going, and in my mind….moving with some serious swagger. I am ready for the day, and I think I might just have to dance tonight….I have some new moves, watch out!
Happy weekend, y’all!
