The Japanese House-Saw You In A Dream

Here is some Monday wisdom….pay attention to your dreams!

I have a crazy, vivid dream life. Sometimes, I am completely perplexed by all the nutty stuff that occurs in my dreams, and at other times, I totally get that my subconscious is trying to work out a problem, a source of confusion, or even a celebration.. It fascinates me that we only use a very small portion of our brains. So knowing this, it makes perfect sense that our dream life could be actually using more of our brain than we use on any given day. Hence, the beauty of sleep, as well as the clearing of your mind while also rebooting your brain power.

I lost my mom to cancer many years ago and it frustrates me that she rarely comes to me in my dreams. I used to pray for it, a glimpse, a conversation, or a reference. But I can only count a handful of times I have dreamt of her. I tend to dream of those I wish were nearer to me. After much thinking and sadness, I have now decided that my brain doesn’t really need to bring her into my dreams because I hold her so close to me from day to day. I think of her so many times in my awake life.

Perhaps that is my best comfort, knowing that she is really always beside me and never far away. I will have to believe that for now.

I love dreaming and the joy of waking up to a dream that was over the top in adventure and activity. These dreams are a happy spark to my morning. Countless times I am surfing, body boarding, swimming, crossing over and even floating in an ocean of both calm and adventurous waves.

So I was curious and checked it out to find this on Dream Moods .

“To see water in your dream symbolizes your subconscious and your emotional state of mind. Water is the living essence of the psyche and the flow of life energy. It is also symbolic of spirituality, knowledge, healing and refreshment. To dream that you are swimming suggests that you are exploring aspects of your subconscious mind and emotions.”

Today’s song is somewhat representative of my dreams and thoughts. Her voice is so spot on with her deep, but almost whisper-like vocals.

The Japanese House-Saw You In A Dream

“I saw you in a dream
You had stayed the same
You were beckoning me
Said that I had changed
Tried to keep my eyes closed
I want you so bad
Then I awoke and it was so sad

Haven’t talked to you in months
And I thought that I might cry
But I’m not that kind of guy

I saw you in a dream
You came to me
You were the sweetest apparition, such a pretty vision
There was no reason, no explanation
The perfect hallucination

All good things come to an end
But I thought that this might last
But you came alive so fast

And when I’m awake I can’t switch off
It isn’t the same but it is enough
(It isn’t the same but it is enough)

I saw you in a dream
Then it came tonight
I wonder if you’ll come and visit me again
You take your time to reappear
I’m starting to believe that when I call your name

You just don’t hear me anymore
And I know that I shouldn’t even try
It’s a waste of time

And when I’m awake I can’t switch off
It isn’t the same but it is enough
(It isn’t the same but it is enough)

And when I’m awake I can’t switch off
It isn’t the same but it is enough
It isn’t the same but it is enough”

The Japanese House is comprised of 21-year-old Londoner Amber Bain. I have blogged her beautiful music before…HERE.

After looking over her biography, I immediately remembered her, her music, and instantly said an Ah-ha! It thrills me to know a young artist is putting out a nice amount of music over a short period of time that catches my attention. This song, “Saw You In A Dream”, reminds me of many of my recurring dreams. The music washes over me like wave after wave of the majestic ocean. Despite the melancholy woeful lyrics, the music has a hopeful spirit. I am once again intrigued by her lush sound which mixes indie pop with her distinctive voice and subtle digital effects.

As the evening turns closer to morning, I long for my cozy pillow and wonder what dreams will come to me when my eyes eventually close.

Sweet dreams to you all.
