Day 24
This song is so different for me, but there is something so hauntingly beautiful about “Home” and her lovely voice. I am captivated by it all, the steady taps, the dreamy instruments, and the voice pleading to be taken home. It pierces something in me that I can’t place. “Home” is a dreamlike song that plays genuine and authentic to me.
Daughter is from North London. Daughter is Elena Tonra (main vocals), Igor Haefeli (guitar), and Remi Aguilella (percussionist). Wildly popular across the pond, they are a very new sound for me. Their new album , If You Leave, is out now, but this remixed track is from a song on the 2012 album, The Wild Youth. This track was remixed by Jon Hopkins and became part of a soundtrack to a movie called, How I Live Now. It is about an American girl on holiday in the English countryside with her family, and she finds herself in hiding and fighting for her survival as the third world war breaks out.
Love, heartbreak, and longing seem to be the subject of Elena’s songs. This song is no exception, but it stands out and touches me. See what you think and if you agree, check out the Facebook page.
