New Listens For You-Santigold, Mountain Man, Angie McMahon, Spiritualized, Taylor Janzen, and Ron Gallo

I thought a little reggae/dance vibe would help spice up your weekend. I am a huge fan of Santigold and am excited for new music. Run The Road plays in my head long after it is done. A nice gem.

Santigold-Run The Road

Sylvan Esso’s, Amelia Meath, was originally in the band, Mountain Man. They were a successful female vocal trio in 2010 and 2011. They each went their own way to work on solo projects. We all know about Meath teaming up with Nick Sandborn to form Sylvan Esso. Now all of the girls are living in North Carolina and they have come together once again. They have an album, Magic Ship, coming out on September 21st. Here is one of their early releases….totally digging the raw energy.

Keeping Time by newcomer Angie McMahon should give Florence+The Machine a run for their money. Kickin’ vocals and rock and roll the way it should be. I hope an album will follow soon. I will stay tuned.

This song is a rambling, meandering journey worth taking. There is something so relaxed and chill about it. Spiritualized has a new album, And Nothing Hurt, coming out on September 7th, via Fat Possum Records.

If you are a fan of the raw, emotional vibe of Julien Baker, you will love the new EP, Interpersonal, by Taylor Janzen. She has the pipes which rise and fall at all of the right places, and are perfectly accompanied by the scratch of her guitar chord changes. Nothing earth shatteringly new, but lovely, sincere, and perfect for rainy days and the sadness of summer coming to a close.

Ron Gallo’s music is all energy, energy, energy. It has a nicely reinvented 70’s rock vibe. The live show is that same energy on steroids, if you can believe it. Stay in it to hear the switch at about the 2 minute mark. Wow, I continue to be smitten.
